Kitchen Porter
Purpose of the Role
To support Catering/Kitchen Department in ensuring kitchen cleanliness, and organization
and to help to maintain a safe environment for staff, residents and visitors through awareness
of health and safety policies, by attending training required (health and safety training as well
as appropriate training programmes to enhance current knowledge) and use initiative in addressing
any issues that arise, particularly those relating to hygiene and health and safety.
Role & Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Assisting Senior Kitchen Staff within Kitchen/ Catering Department
- Keeping Kitchen area clean & tidy
- Operating dishwasher & other kitchen equipment
- Filling & emptying catering trolleys
- Waste management
- Assisting with Basic Food preparation when required
- Reporting all accidents or incidents to the Head Chef.
- Reporting any unsafe practices or broken machinery/equipment to
the Head Chef, so that remedial action can be taken immediately - Use all equipment as trained observing all safe practices, so that
accidents are avoided - Taking full responsibility for your allocated area of work on a
daily basis. - Record keeping – ensuring that necessary checks are made and
recorded in accordance with our Food Hygiene Policy. - Ensuring food hygiene and HACCP standards are adhered to at all times
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/or Experience
- Experience in similar role
- Knowledge of HACCP including good hygiene practices
- Flexibility/adaptability
- Written /numerical/analytical skills
- IT Skills
- Highly organised
Experience
- Kitchen: 1 year (preferred)
